Disappointing! Yes I gave exactly the right title for this series. The entire serial is a made up story of star plus. The foundation of the serial itself was wrong . Here are the mistakes I figured out
1.Satyawathi was not a selfish or vampish woman as shown. Her father dushraj wanted her sons to become the future kings . Also Sathyawathi’s attitude towards beeshma pitamah was not the way they had shown in star plus. She was indeed very guilty after her marriage considering herself responsible for spoiling beeshma pitamah’s life.
2.Vyasya was Sathyawathi’s son which was not mentioned. Even the reason as to why dridrashtra was blind and pandu weak was not mentioned. Actually Ambika closed her eyes and ambalika got scared after seeing vyasya during vyasya viyog. So Ambika son dridrashtra became blind and ambalika son pandu became weak.
3.Krishna is seen giving gyan 3 generations before his birth . If Lord vishnu in his divine form had done it it would still make sense.
4.Only arjun is given all importance and attention while all the pandavas were equally important.
5.The escape from wax palace in Vanarvat was completely done by the pandavas alone. But star plus made a joke out of it by making it a clever act done by vidur by getting them out by a tunnel which is not correct.
6.Karna’s and Duryodhana’s friendship was great.Duryodhana loved karna more than his own brothers. But star plus has defiled this also. Here Duryodhana calls karna suth putra in front of shakuni. Here star plus is showing that karna was just being used by Duryodhana for his selfish intentions which is rubbish.
7.Drupad wasn’t a male chauvinist as shown in star plus. He actually wanted a daughter to get arjun as his son in law.He also wanted a son to kill guru dronacharya. Drupad loved his daughter and in fact in vedic age women were given rights equal to men. So what’s this nonsense star plus was showing.
8.shikandi was not a girl as shown in the serial. She was born as an eunuch .
9.Arjuna never met subadhra before going to dwaraka. But here they show the two meeting in a filmy style which was nowhere there in vyasya’s text.
- The vanvas and agyatvas shown was totally rubbish. So many important stories were there which were not shown and those shown were wrong. Like, arjun never played a sitar or violin, keechak was not killed in the way star plus showed us.
11.oh yes how did I forget according to the director of this mahabharat virat war never took place what a joke. Well in reality it was a war where arjun defeated beeshma, karna, dronacharya, Duryodhana and dushashana. I can go on and on the list is long. Major events have been skipped and the other events are distorted .Events that did not take place are shown in boring detail to increase the trp.
At last the war potrayl was disgusting. The image of krishna has been degraded and the story was totally absured. I have seen the br chopra version . Even those days where there was no technology his graphics and action scenes were far superior to this star plus crap.
Coming to the actors I am impressed with aham sharma who plays karna .He had the charm and emotions to play this great role. I don’t want to compare him to pankaj dheer of br chopra’s mahabharat because he was backed up with great dialogs by Dr reza and also a director like br chopra. The other actors were not upto the mark. The costumes were too gaudy and the ladies were wearing huge bumpits. Draupadi’s hair looked very artificial.
In order to detox myself from starbharat I watched the entire br chopra mahabharat .
My sincere request to all young children and to the people who don’t know the mahabharat is please don’t watch this misleading nonsense. See br chopra version or read the book.
