Hi,
A few years ago(Ten years ago to be precise), i had seen the M&M Armada a fell in love with it purely as it offered me an option of buying a jeep with the price of a car.Believe when I say this because I have seen my Armada beat a mercedes s-class head to head on the delhi jaipur highway.I am about to complete ten years this august and this baby has probably beaten many expectations .Though it is noisy and the gears are a bit clunky, everyone gives way to this behemoth.Your view is also unhindered as the seats are much higher than the ones in the sissy cars.I am least bothered when someone commits the mistake of crashing into it as I escape with minimal damage and the poor fellow usually has to get his door or bumper along with the headlights and bonnet changed. No other vehicle can satisfy your wanderlust other than the armada.Trust me on this one, I have had the opportunity to travel through punjab, himachal pradesh, UP, Rajasthan, J&K and haryana on my workhorse. When I bought the Armada , it was a ten seater version which had really cramped backseats. After six months of driving I converted it into an eight seater for I lived in a joint family and believe it or not the following month M&M itself started production of its eight seaters.Though I havent really souped it up like many others do it still serves me as faithfully as it has done for the past ten years be it offroad , the highway or the city.Of course, my advice for the faint hearted and the weak kneed never even venture out of the city with your armada on low fuel or a dead battery. If your armada refuses to start then you have had it.It is not a Maruti which starts on giving a gentle push by one person, it is your worst nightmare come true.Once I got stuck up in chandigarh with a dead battery and I had to call atleast 10 people all passersby to give the armada a heave still the starter did not budge. After almost countless tries we had to give up as each one of us had probably lost a kilo due to the effort .
M&M seems to have done a good job in revamping the armada and rechristening it as Bolero(Strange Name!).The engine is surprisingly quiet and the gear shifting has smoothened down quite a bit, the interiors and the dashboard has also been kinda redone .Probably, M&M has woken up to consumers sensibilities and realised that it is the finish that makes a vehicle more popular than it is.So finally I would like to finish by proclaiming.......
ARMADA REST IN PEACE .......BOLERO BREAK FREE!!
