One of the most pathetic scooters that I have come across is the Mahindra Duro. I had purchased it two years back since there was six months waiting period for Honda Activa. That was the worst decision of my life. The Duro is made up of all the old outdated components that cannot be found anywhere.
In the mechanic’s lingo, it is a ’thakela bike’. It sucks out any battery till it is damaged beyond repair. It is so whimsical that it starts when it wants. I would too prefer a bullock cart or a bicycle than this Mahindra Duro. Even though it is slow, at least they would start!
The customer care too is very pathetic. It is disgusting to say the least. They are so accustomed to all the venom and disgust of the customers that they say a sorry even before we can tell them our problem. They are clueless of any service centers.
They are like Alice in Wonderland. After much argument, the lady on the other side gave me a service center address in Pune, which is 192km away from my house in Mumbai. I haven’t heard a more bizarre solution than this. The cost to take my idiotic, dead scooter to Pune would be more than the value I would get if I sell the scooter in scrap.
Such is the pathetic plight of Mahindra Scooters! If ever you buy any Mahindra scooter just remember that your bad times have started!
