I bought a scorpio CRDE a couple of months ago in Bangalore and have logged around 5800 km. Overall I am satisfied with the vehicle. Here is the break up of pros and cons:
Pros:
Great Looks
Engine is great and refined
Running costs are low
Interiors are ok
driver Visiblity is great
AC performs well
Pricing is reasonable
Cons:
Ride is below average
Handling is terrible
The suspension in the rear is bad.
Second row seats are crampled.
Steering is not refined.
I have driven Honda Accord and Mitsubishi Mirage in the USA for a few years and when I came back to India wanted to buy a true Indian vehicle and went for Scorpio.
After about 5000 km , my speedometer stopped working, which kind of surprised me as this is considered a very robust piece of equipment. The dealer said the sensor has stopped working and he will get it in a few days and fix it.
As pointed out in the previous reviews, I will not call the Scorpio a true off roader, not like a safari. Handling the vehicle at high speeds feels scary and this is definitely something that mahindra has to work on in their next version of this vehicle.
If the scorpios ride/ handling , rear suspension are taken care and 4WD is added, I will say Scorpio will be comparable to the best SUVs in the world.!
