Never could have imagined something like this from mahindra but the fact is it really is the biggest surprise of 2002.
Well this muscular greatt looking muv has all to impress, perform and deliver smiles.
Diesel:
The austrian 2.7litre engine outperforms the sucessful Quails and the Sumo by all means. Apart from the fact that Qualis being the 80’s model in africa still did well in india and the common public still prefers to hire the sumo , And the safari still is the rich mans car ...the scorpio has an altogether fresh look and better performing vehicle feel.
The power steering which is a standard option makes the scorpio the easiest of all the four to drive. The 2.7 litre Austrian engine is solidly built to perform and the drive at all rpms is none less than fun. The Tyres are also extra radial to give the smooth feel. Although one point of mahindra still remains that at starting and shutting down the engine the famous mahindra vibration is still felt but the engineer said that the engine is mounted with a little flexibility so as to absorb the off road jerks.
The Scorpio is an excellent off roader and in cities it is a butter to drive. Even my mom can drive it. Anyone who can drive the indica will find this car more smooth to drive.

great road grip at all speeds -- excellent power -- low maintainence (dont even think of Qualis it has a very high maintainence which was the reason I sold it off) -- Bucket seats for wonderful comfort -- 4 a/c vents 2 in front and two in rear {remember safari or versa} -- very slight drop in power when a/c is on -- 10-12 kms with a/c mileage -- easy to manouver in city -- sexy looks
All in all if saftey performance and styling is what u need --- Scorpio is best in its class
and it comes for 650000 to 700000 on road
Safari -- price too high, gear shifting problem
Qualis -- very High mainainence
Sumo --- Time for a change - Same old rural looks and handling problems --remember? high road accidents
This car sure is a competition not only to the indian muvs but also it is the cheaper alternative for PAJERO OR LAND CRUISER
