A Russian car, LADA 110, sells for 2 lacs and it is size of Honda city(civic) and has same space as in city(civic). Although its quality is not as good. My point is if Russia can sell car like civic for 2 lacs, why the hell on earth in India they sell 800 for the same price. Price of material is cheaper in India and labor is cheaper so we should be able to build similar car under 1 lac, right?
I am very baffled by home-grown manufacturers, I don’t understand why they cannot build a world-class vechicle. Here in States, even kids are building cars. Take the case of Scorpio, which sells for upwards of seven lacs but offer very little. It has a tiny engine to begin with. Car that size needs atleast 160 BHP if it wants to have 0-100 in around 10 seconds which itself is not that great. The Scorpio’s engine has to be revved higher while accelerating and it is a noisy engine and car’s front would vibrate.
It is supposed to be an off-road vehicle but it has 7 inches of clearance, a decent off-roader needs atleast 30 degree of approach angle but Scorpio has its in mid-twenties. Let’s discuss its styling, it looks like cheap copy of Jeep’s new SUV called Liberty. I can understand lack of airbags, traction control, and other fancy things, however its brakes are bad, one guy reported the brakes failed in his Scorpio!
I am sure we can do better!
