Mahindra Scorpio has been dominating the Indian market since quite a few years among the SUVs of Indian manufactures in terms of comfort ability, robustness, driving pleasure and passenger security until New Car Assessment Program(NCAP) rejected it in terms of robustness and passenger security released yesterday on mass media. Here are a few outcomes as concluded by NCAP on this SUV.
1) It failed comprehensively in crash test when the test was conducted with a speed of 64 kilometers per hour.
2) It received zero rating in a five star rating system in terms of life security of driver and the passenger on the front seat which is alarming for sure.
3) It received two stars for passengers on the back seat which is also not encouraging.
4) lack of safety air bags is the vital reason of such ratings.
Observations:
1) First of all, this information will reduce the marketability of it significantly.
2) The company must think of providing safety air bags for at least for driver and the passenger on the front seat as a mandatory provision. If one thinks to buy this SUV and these safety bags are not provided, then the customer must buy them additionally to be secured.
3) The manufacturing materials must be re visited by the company to make it more robust to be crash tolerant.
If these aspects are taken care of then only the glory of it can be revived, which will take sometime though.
