Mahindra is wondered about their response to their all new XUV 500.
This is never an SUV. It doesnt match the Scorpio in Engine performance and Suspension(considering MPLs claim that it has spent world class design hours for XUV500).
It cant be called an MUV or even a Family Vehicle. First let me look into the Pros of XUV as far as I have felt from my experience(2 months).
Pros
Lot of(useless) space on the 1st & 2nd seat rows
6 airbags, ESP with rollover mitigation(?), ABS+ EBD and all-wheel disc brakes
urban driving is good, as well as fast highway performance but fuel efficiency(?).
packed with technology, equipment & gizmos. why do we need a voice operated headlamp?
Cons
The front grill looks good from far, but is crappy, cluttered and difficult to clean and maintain. Look close and you will know why.
Excessive Rolling and swing(like old Xylo) when you brake at high speeds(above 120 Kmph). Not a safe vehicle for Highway driving; especially with your family. Who said Rolling is minimized?
Lot of electronics inside, but for what? instead MPL engineers would have spent time for safety inside. No re-in forcing bars on Doors, Frame is too light and not strong. Doors have that cheap and creaky sound when opened. Let us put world class parts to call it world class Mahindra.
Plastics are too cheap. My cousin has transferred his booking for XUV500 after he saw this.
AC is not powerful at all. The sound of the blower gives you a false impression that AC is powerful. but alas, it takes too much time to cool.
The service S U C K S! You step into almost any MPL service station, and its like a government office. Ive seen technicians at Mahindra Service centers taking petty bribes. Shame on you Mahindra.
Im still exploring my XUV. I am surprised and flattered by the looks I get on road, but within me, I am shattered. I world have gone for a Toyota or the new Pajero Sport.
Friends, I shall add more as I explore this product in coming days.
