FRIENDS, I HAVE COMMENTED PURELY FROM INITIAL INVESTMENT POINT OF VIEW. TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE AND FROM PROVEN TRACK RECORD INNOVA IS BEST IN CALSS. I HAVE BROUGHT AN INNOVA IN MAY 2009. I AM CLARIFYING BECAUSE SOME OF MY PRICE CONSCIOUS FRIENDS WERE INSPIRED TO BUY XYLO BASED ON MY ARTICLE. ONE HAS TO DECIDE BASED ON THEIR PRIORITIES. I AM VERY MUCH SATISFIED WITH INNOVA, ITS BEEN A GREAT EXPERIENCE DRIVING THIS GREAT VEHICLE.
I take the privilege of driving the first XYLO in Hyderabad, the test drive is fantastic and has certainly made me shift from INNOVA to XYLO. Though INNOVA is a proven class vehicle, but the G4 model is costing about Rs.10, 56, 674 on road in Hyderabad where as the XYLO top end model E8 is costing about Rs.8, 62, 564 on road in Hyderabad. The new Mahindra vehicle is way ahead in features and looks like a practical no nonsense car. It is perhaps the most complete car with luxury comforts which the Indian market has been looking forward to from a long time. All XYLO variants conform to stringent BS III emission norms and come in 4 exciting variants & eight elegant shades to suit a variety of tastes. These include Fiery Black, Mist Silver, Mint Green, Lucky Lilac, Gold Shimmer, Toreador Red, Java Brown and Rocky Beige. XYLO seems to have been engineered around the customer and has a powerful 2.49 litre mEagle CRDe engine which is said to be fuel-efficient and delivers 112 bhp, allowing you to literally zoom from 0-60 kmph in just 5.8 seconds. Moreover, it offers class-defining lavish space all around such that even Amitabh Bachhan can stretch in comfort on the 3rd row seat. The XYLO offers an extraordinary level of luxurious comfort at a very cost-effective price for prospective sedan buyers.
Sleek contours coupled with structured edges and the signature Mahindra front grille give the XYLO the sophistication of a sedan and the aggressive stance of an SUV. Integrated bumpers, chunky alloy wheels and strong curves on the bonnet and fenders add to the car’s stature. All this makes the XYLO an eye-catching vehicle on the road. Independent AC vents ensure that the Surround Cool Dual AC cools all corners of this spacious car with individual controls for each passenger. The car’s stylish exterior is aptly complemented by plush interiors available in three sophisticated shades – Black, Walnut and Granite.
One of the great features of the XYLO is the tech-savvy Digital Drive Assist System(DDAS). An alphanumeric display in the centre panel, the DDAS has features such as an onboard computer to calculate mileage and distance permissible. The system is easy to read and provides useful data at a quick glance. Standard information available includes date, time, inside and outside temperature and relative humidity. The DDAS also has an inbuilt warning system which will prompt you to put on your seat belts in case you forget or if you attempt to drive with the handbrake engaged, for instance. The Intellipark Reverse Assist has a visual prompt in the rear view mirror which shows you the distance between the rear bumper and any object behind your car. The 2 Din Entertainment Systems is also feature packed. It enables playback from MP3s and CDs, SD cards and USB devices, giving you a superlative acoustic experience on the road. I haven’t gone through all this things in detail since the vehicle was in great demand for Test ride; these impressions are also based on dealer feed back.
Plenty of innovation has gone into making the XYLO a superior vehicle to drive. The sporty dials, the centre bezel curves and the advanced Digital Drive Assist System combine to give you the feel of a sophisticated cockpit. The driver’s seat is ergonomically designed with height adjustment control to maximize comfort on long drives. Lumbar support can also be adjusted to three positions while the unique tilt able steering wheel gives you the perfect driving position. An illuminated keyhole ring allows you to conveniently locate the keyhole even in pitch dark conditions. Utility spaces abound in the Mahindra XYLO with a well defined Centre Console housing space for CDs, magazines, etc. I personally felt that the XYLO is offering some thing more than what is expected and surprisingly at a pleasant price. Friends, in spite of such a great feeling about XYLO I may not be buying the car instead I would buy the Mahindra Share because I am sure the XYLO would do what SCORPIO has done to Mahindra’s share……

Sorry, if I sounded like marketing the product, I never meant that. These were my natural feelings, mine is a large joint family, we have small cars at home, been looking desperately for some thing which fits into a family car segment, which should be spacious, good looking and above all reasonably priced. I had the test ride with my family and everyone liked it, except my father who liked the INNOVA higher end model with air bags and ABS, which is certainly above my budget. Most of my circle, either friends or relatives are still in joint families and the review is for them.
I am the General Manager of one of the leading retail firms, any day I would prefer to market my company and that too through proper means and certainly not through mouthshut.com which is a genuine platform for individuals to air their concern and feelings.
