I bought the Xylo after 3 months of research, and I feel that its been a good buy. It exceeded my expectations with regards to acceleration and speed, I guess that my idea of a diesel vehicle dates back to when we had an Ambassador - but I had not realized how far engine technology had come. Its a very smooth drive, and Mahendra have done an excellent job with regards to getting the torque right. I also appreciate the turning radius, being such a big vehicle, you would have thought it required a wider angle, but that is not necessarily the case, and it turns with ease.
As far as the fuel consumption is concerned, well if you are buying a 2.5 litre engine, and that too diesel then you should know what you are getting into, in city drives i`m getting an approximate average of 12km to the litre, the only unfortunate thing is that the price of diesel has gone up, and more so in Delhi, but thats OK. A lot of people have made remarks about the looks, well I don`t think that the vehicle looks that bad, there were reservations of buying a black colour but it didnt bother me much, yes it does look dirtier but i`m not too bothered about that.
I would suggest that if anyone wants to buy this vehicle they should go for the E4 model, I don`t know about dealers outside NCR, but what ever accessories that you find coming added from the dealer are much cheaper to buy and install from outside, I saved myself approx 7-8K by going to my regular accessory dealer than buying from the Mahendra dealer as they are much more expensive.
On the whole for now i`m very happy with the car and would definitely recommend it as a buy. Just don`t get swayed with what the dealer tells you. They told me that the car insurance would cost 26, 000 and would be free but once the papers came I found the insurance premium listed at 15, 500. So just ensure that you bargain very hard an get the deal that YOU want.
