Xylo VS Old Innova

Hi! I am going to tell you about xylo and simultaneously compare it with old innova… The new one has almost all features of the xylo and even more.

Exteriors: Neither good nor bad

Xylo is an odd looking vehicle and it may not please everyone… I think we will get used to it and start liking it after a period of time… I dint like the looks of innova and even the verna when they were launched but then now I like them… The top end variant comes with alloys and side cladding and looks are ok. The looks are subjective and this is my personal opinion… I like the looks of innova over Xylo.

Interiors: Awesome

The first thing my friend said when he entered the car is that he feels like sitting in a luxurious volvo bus.

Xylo is more spacious than the innova and even the specs show the same. It has more leg room in all the rows when compared to innova though the length of the car is less as they have compromised on the luggage space…, it has more headroom as it is taller than the innova… It has very big windows, bigger than any other MUV/ SUV that I have seen, esp the middle row windows… The interiors look and feel upmarket unlike other mahindra products… 2 din audio player is far better than that of the innova… the luggage space is less than innova and it doesn’t have a split folding facility of the rear most seat like in innova. The only thing that I dint like in the interiors was the inside door knobs…

Performance: Very good

The performance matches that of the innova but it has more body roll(due to its height I guess). The specs shows that the xylo’s engine produces more power than that of innova.

XYLO Power(PS@rpm) 114@3800 Torque( Nm@rpm) 235@1800

INNOVA Power(PS@rpm) 102@5600 Torque( Nm@rpm) 200@1400

I felt that innova’s engine noise was a little lower and the gear shift was smoother when compare to xylo. but it is not much of a difference. It sans ABS and airbags… These are not even an option…

Equipment levels: Fully loaded

On the top E8 variant include height and lumbar adjustable captain seats, captains seats in the second row, folding trays integrated into the back of the front seats and a choice of either black interiors with silver trim or brown interiors. There’s also a 2DIN MP3 stereo with inputs from CD’s, USB, SD Card, Aux in, alloys, parking sensors with the display integrated into the rear-view mirror and a multi-function display that has a slew of menus including digital speed and gear indicator, compass, trip distance, fuel tank range, instantaneous fuel consumption and even relative humidity.

The innova doesn’t have features like parking sensors, lumbar adjustable captain seats, folding trays integrated into the back of the front seats and a choice of either black interiors with silver trim or brown interiors. The audio system offered in the top end variant is outdated. It doesn’t have rear fog lamps and rear glass embedded antenna.

Verdict:

Mahindra has done a great job with Xylo and has priced it right. It offers all these features at a very less price compared to innova… I am sure that the prices will be increased very soon as the current prices are the invitation prices… The maintenance costs also will be less compared to the innova… I suggest you to go for Xylo if you don’t mind the looks and are fine without ABS and airbags.
