Xylo - features and 20K Experience.

Now time for some more updates on Services and Maintenance.

I have visited many more places in last 1 year including long trip to Shirdi, Ganapathipule and Costal Maharashtra(2 times). Several places in Karnataka and Tamilnadu. Now odemeter touched 20K.

  • Always as comfortable with more space and nice interiors

  • Even after long trips for 12+Hours, my 1 year old daughter has no issues. She is feeling still homely as ever

  • Driving pleasure is superb

Issues faced:

1.  Black smoke emitting

2.  Rattling noise

  1. Engine noise increased.

  2. Mileage and pick-up dropped

Service:  When I reported above issues during my 3rd Service, to India Garage(SM Workshop) Victoria road, no action was taken.

I have big issues with India Garage in Whitefield as well as Victoria Road. Pathetic services, none of the issues reported are fixed properly. I have re-visited 2-3 times after each service with no use.

Fixed above issues by Sirish Auto Marathalli. Replaced oil splitter under warranty(Thanks to Service advisor Raghavendra who did a great job)

Finally I found a good service center Sirish Auto who is honest in his dealings.

Mahindra should wake-up, they should learn from Maruti. The success of any vehicle is mainly backed by strong service chain which is badly missing with Mahindra. I am sure xylo will beat Innova in terms of sales if Mahindra improves it’s service department.

Overall, I am  enjoying the great comfort this Car is offering to me and my family.

Review on Sep-2009I am a proud owner of Xylo E8-ABS, Got delivery from India Garage Bangalore 2 months back. Since then, have driven about 2000km. My first impression about this car was AWESOME.

Initially I went to Mahindra showroom for Scorpio VLX, but ended up getting Xylo. The reasons are simple, I found scorpio more cramped in middle row. Also you have shell out more than 1 lakh for the top-end variant. The scorpio has newer engine mHawk, also Xylo has got proven mEagle from old Scorpio. The features like cruise-control, rain sensor, microhybrid technology sounds good for Scorpio, but how often do you use cruise control in Indian road condition. As for microhybrid technology, engine stops when the engine is in idle for certain preset duration. It did not impress me because AC also switches off when engine is off, which temps you to rev the engine. Even though the gear shift needs effort in both Scorp and Xylo, I found Xylo more smoother. In both the cars you have noticeable gear vibration.

So I settled for Xylo,

As I am a gizmo-freak, I liked the amount of electronics this car is offering for it’s cost. Total Value for money

It has everything a family needs. Loads of spaces, comfortable seating, individual air-cons/lamps. More important thing I liked was DDAS, which display many real time status, like temp, instant mileage, gear position, compass to show where you are heading toward, etc

The engine has awesome pick-up for it’s size. In Bangalore maddening traffic, I always find my car zooming along with ease as soon as the traffic signal turns green. Forget about autos and other cars competing you.

The car feels more free now than initial days, but still in run-in period. Have taken away from Bangalore few times. I always drive with full AC which chills quickly. I never felt tired despite driving alone 300Km in a single day, was fresh as any other normal day. Driving comfort is really fantastic!

This car is returning about 10.5KM in city(In Bangalore traffic which is hell now) and about 14KM on Highways.

Considering the high CG, this vehicle feels unsafe while cornering at high speed. But ABS comes handy. As I was driving at about 80Km on Tumkur highway on the extreme right-lane. A crazy trucker took right turn without any indication. I applied full brake in panic. The CAR stopped spot on from 80 to 0 with great manners!. No issues at all. Since then this car has instilled a lot of confidence in me.

So far no major issues faced except few. The central locking(Sometimes Passenger side door lock doesnt open). Need to see with Nippon Service. The built in music system is a let down, again from Nippon. The speakers are meagre 40W, which I had to change to 400W. It fails to play from USB Pen drive number of songs exceeds 250.

The handbrake is weak for its size. The vehicle rolls back while parked in slope despite handbrake fully applied. Need to use gear.

Otherwise, I always love to drive this CAR.
