Entertainment hai na

Main hoon na!! first things first...how do you decide genre of such film...do you call it a college romance, family drama, musical, action film, film on indo-pak relations or an army film...main hoon na fits into all these genres...

SRk plays major ram prasad sharma, naseeruddin shahs son out of extramarital affairs, him being the reason for which his wife kiron kher leaves him with his son zayed khan when he was just an infant....after naseers death in a mission srk has two missions, one to save sanjana (amrita rao) General bakshis daughter who is also the mastermind behind mission milap (a movement set to improve indo-pak relations) which sunil shetty (raghvan)is set to destroy and second mission is to reunite his estranged family (his fathers last wish)....srk sets off to st pauls school, darjeeling where he has to fulfil both these missions as both the youngsters are coincidentally studying here

There are plots and there are subplots in this film...and its nothing but an enjoyable roller coaster ride of three hours where you encounter characters enacted brilliantly by bindu (mrs kakkad) pronouncing macho as ’’makko’’ and the principal (boman irani) who reads harry potter in his room, sports cartoon ties and cant remember a thing, satish shah as the physics proffesor who spits without discrimination and sushmita sen(srks dream women) who looks like a million bucks......

Coming to the performances....srk is brilliant as usual...he carries the film on his shoulders....be it comedy, action, drama, dancing....he is at his best and shows why he is called baadshah of bollywood....sushmita sen dazzles and her sequences with srk make u wonder why we didnt see this pair before on the celluloid....their chemistry is amazing on screen....zayed khan is competent...amrita rao sparkles in the role of a tomboy....naseeruddin shah, kiron kher are seasoned performers so u expect them to do their job....boman irani, satish shah, bindu, college kids are fab as well....sunil shetty in an out an out negative role is deadly and impresses.....

The highlight of the film is the picturisation of the songs...all the songs are a treat to watch right from the introduction song of Zayed and Amrita ’’ye hawayein’’ and the repeat version of the song in the end to the prom night song’’Gori Gori’’...infact the music sounds better after you have watched the film....

Now coming to some things in the film inspired from classics:

  1. The rickshaw on which srk chases terrorists is painted with ’’Dhanno’’ (remember sholay)

  2. The brothers are named ram prasad and laxman prasad (golmaal)

  3. All the songs which srk sings for sush are compositions of rd burman (read in an interview Farah khan is a big pancham fan)

Farah Khan does a great job in her debut film and even though she might not impress the critics she ensures her debut directorial venture is a big hit...

Farah khan might not impress the critics with her film but one thing is for sure.....she makes sure that her directorial debut is a super duper hit.....
