Hey guys guess what its my first ever movie review, and its on main hoooon na!!!. What a terrible way to start off. For starters as usual this film was a huge hit just like all other srk movies, but this one had to be one of his worst movies yet. how and why, that I will explain.
This movie embarked the debut of the so called ?talented? director farah khan, another srk lover, (GOD HOW MANY MORE!!). My friends I am very certain, and assure you that ms farah khan will soon one day bring bollywood to barbadi if she continues directing consistenly. But lets kick her to the side for a minute, and lets kick into the movie.
Cast
Zayed Khan (Lucky), Amrita rao (Sanjana), Sushmita Sen (Chandni), Kabir Bedi (General Bakshi), Nasserudin shah (Brig. Shekhar Sharma), Sunil shetty (Raghavan), Satish Shah (Prof. Rasai), Boman Irani (Principal), Bindu (Mrs kaker), Kiron Kher (Madhu Sharma), AND OF COURSE the greatest actor ever Mr hakla khan, uugh I mean shahrukh khan as Major Ram Prasad Sharma.
Story
So this is how it goes, major ram Prasad Sharma aka major shahrukh khan dreams of peace between India and Pakistan. After half a century of bickering and rivers of blood flowing it seems like peace is near, and it is project milaap that will take us their. But it seems as if peace is not what some people want as there are many who live for enmity and long bearing hatred, in this case it?s the dreaded terrorist Raghavan (sunil shetty) a former army man and guess what?.he?s INDIAN, yeah that?s right bollywood have finally realized that they are allowed to have Indian terrorist characters.
So anyway, mission milaap, is basically the first step to peace where India and Pakistan in agreement will release prisoners of opposition as a trade. But Raghavan does not trust the enemy, and he will do anything to stop mission milaap from taking place. The movie starts off at a slick pace straightaway, we see the introduction of SRK, Nasserudin shah as brigadier Shekhar Sharma who plays the role of srk?s father, Kabir Bedi as General Bakshi, and sunil shetty as Raghavan.
We kick off with the action scenes, as in cowardly fashion the terrorists attack the main protagonists of mission milaap on the sets of a TV show, amidst all the chaos, Shekhar Sharma is killed trying to protect his superior, and dies in the arms of his son, and before he dies he reveals a secret which he has been keeping from Ram for his whole life(which I wont reveal) and now he has one wish, and it is Ram?s responsibility to fulfill his father?s last wish, but at the same time he is bound to his duty which is mission milaap.
Duty always come first, and his first orders are the protection of Sanjana (Amrita rao) daughter of general Bakshi, and a student in college who is now in the sights of Raghavan. but the catch is that he must protect her by disguising himself as a student, as Sanjana despises security protection especially as she hates her father. Now of course it will be totally stupid of farah to make shahrukh look like a student when he looks ten years older than an actual student, so to make it more logical, ram has to make up a lie that he is returning to college to finish off his studies as ten years ago, he had to quit for personal reasons. Perfect and logical.
So anyway as srk enters the college we move into a totally different movie, this is where the madness starts, after the introduction of Zayed and amrita, we enter the wacky fun zone, with teen frolic, romance, action, so-called humour, and so on. We first see that lucky and Sanjana are best friends, but Sanjana is actually in love with lucky, but despite all her efforts lucky never looks at her in the way she expects.
Lucky?s character although is full of more energy, he?s wacky, cool, fun, popular and guess what he?s a no-hoper in school failing 3 consecutive times. But his only family is his mother Madhu Sharma(Kiron Kher), a mother and a wife living in emotional turmoil for the last 20 years. As the time goes by ram joins into the fun, after being mocked at his arrival he soon enough becomes the heart of the college, but what he must not forget is his orders. Ram may be havin fun but Raghavan is looking to spoil everything, after attempts by Raghavan to capture Sanjana, ram is called into action once again, death defying stunts from ram are able to prevent the terrorists in succeeding from their aim, but what will happen in the future, will he be able to stop Raghavan from attacking again, will mission milaap take place, and what about his father?s dying wish, will he be able to fulfill it.
Pros
uuuuugggghhhh the action stunts are ok in some parts
Ummm oo the songs were quite good
The ending, it was no longer painful then.
Cons
God where do I start first of all I hate illogical movies, and this movie went beyond all borders, I don?t understand how srk can be having fun at college, romancing with a teacher when his father expired just days ago, and that he also must protect the general?s daughter, a very incapable man in my opinion.
Secondly why was the film mushed up with so many ingredients, it had a bit of everything, it had action, romance, teen euphoria, comedy, sentimentality. If you think that would make it a great film, then u are wrong, infact that is why it was such a disaster. What was farah thinking. They became so focused on mixing everythin up that they forgot to focus on the main points, which I just mentioned.
Thirdly what was with the cheap humour, did they expect us to laugh at somebody spitting constantly in your face everytime he talks, were we expected to laugh when everybody did a runner everytime ms kaker entered the college. Did they expect us to laugh at srk everytime he sang when he saw susmita sen.
Another thing, if you?re a female teacher, and somebody came to your door to ask you to give a fellow student a makeover so that another boy will like her, would you be sane enough to do that, or would you be stupid enough to advise her that she should not try and change herself to get the attention of a boy, as inner beauty is more important.
Am I the only one getting sick to death with watching college scenes in a movie where apparently they think teens don?t know how to do anything else besides jump around like a bunch of frogs, talk like brainless donkeys or try to make themselves look cool by dressing up like clowns.
Some of the stunts were the most idiotic I?ve seen I am sure the makers of matrix will be gobsmacked with some of the interestingly stupid ones at the end. My favourite one had to be at the end, where shetty knocks srk off his feet flying back miles away with one punch, by the time srk is still flying in the air 3 feet from the floor 10 miles away from sunil shetty in slow mo, shetty still manages to walk straight to srk, in fast motion, has time to crack his neck, srk still floatin, and gives him a chop in the stomach to make him land quicker. Confused? u?ll see when u watch it.
There are some other bizarre ones but I am afraid I cant tell as I will end up revealing one of the sub plots of the movie.
