OK lets ........................................see now, I have been forced out of my hibernation and have been drawn towards this keyboard and the reason is this movie “Main Hoon Na” Tum ho isiliye to hum likh rahein hain @#$*&^ !!!!!!!!
I think it is a good idea to start off with the basic story outline… And let me make this as short as I possibly can (why prolong the agony more than necessary?)
Man (not boy for once Phew!!!!!) is in the army brave man, serves the country, gets close to his commander who sobs and tells him a really sad story about how his daughter hates him, blah blah blah!!!!!! Then he asks this brave young man to go and protect his daughter from this soldier turned maniac, and guess what the brave man (Sharukh Khan for those who haven’t realized yet) agrees to the assignment and sets off.
But come on, did you even think for a split second that the story will end when the hero goes and saved the girl? Don’t kid yourself, you know very well by now that this is a Hindi Movie and things cannot be so simple.
So here is the twist!! The hero has to go to the commander’s daughter’s college and enroll there as a student (to avoid suspicion, of course!!! Coz there is nothing weird about a 30 something year old man joining college! Now is there??)
Oh did I mention that in the same town lives his step mom and step brother that he is desperate to find and appease?
Well as the story goes the little haughty girl hates him, the brother that he is trying to find hates him and he flirts around with the teacher all while keeping his senses alert that help him to keep everyone safe.
After a bunch of matrix effects with the flying popcorn, the hurling spit, he building climbs, romancing the teacher and a few dance and song sequences the hero manages to free the kidnapped children and slay the horrible villain (think Matrix here!!) and once again he saves the day.
Not bad you got through reading that. Now here’s my take on the whole thing. Personally in straight and simple words all that the movie amounts to is that it is a truck full of crap. What is with the matrix sequences? I do understand that special effects are necessary in a movie to make it more appealing, but please do not take it so far (I happened to see Yuva and I think those effects were so much more tolerable).
Mr. Commander so who gave you the permission to send the Hero to protect your daughter? Does the Army allow to use their personnel for personal use? If so please let me know there are a few things I could think of that I want to get done :)
And someone please explain the whole deal with spitting, it was not funny if not downright disgusting!!! And the worst came when Mr. Khan busted a move to avoid it!!!!
The whole thing about this movie was that in her directorial debut, Farah Khan in an attempt to do a good job over did it, she cramed every single piece of movie masala that she could lay her paws on in this movie, which not only was unnecessary but actually manages to make one loose interest in the movie.
Let me comments not bug you down too much. There are a few things that I really liked about the movie. The first and foremost thing is that Mr. Khan actually played his age rather than playing a college going 18yr old and I applaud his move, very graceful. Ms. Sen looked really nice in the movie, I only hope that she had a more substantial role. Mr. Shetty was almost believable in his negative role, but I must really mention is Ms. Kher that did the best job among the whole cast.
