Not enough Prem

Sooraj barjatya needs lots of luck and so does Hrithik Roshan !! Sooraj bhaiya had been researching for a fresh idea for four years, yet could only come up with a story ’inspired’ by a 70s film chitchor. What he could have done simultaneously is applied for a doctorate degree on ’how to put old wine in a new bottle’.

His style has not changed much as the characters are nauseatingly sweet (remember Hum Aapke Hain Kaun). His strength lies in capturing ’moments of truth’ in relationships, and it is in these parts that the movie is watchable. Only one is left wondering where ’’Sunder Nagar’’ is because one finds everything from beaches to snow-capped mountains there, and for sports nothing less than river rafting, snorkeling and bungee jumping !

Animals, as usual, have an important role to play, so we have a dog called Johnny who keeps troubling Johnny Lever all the time and an animated parrot who keeps rattling movie names..oh what would the movie do without them !

Hrithik as a hyper, over-enthusiastic, youngster bubbling with more than energy is totally disappointing inspite of having a large chunk in the movie.Abhishek Bachchan as a shy, introvert guy has done justice to his role, perhaps the fact that he had to speak only two words every five minutes had something to do with that.Kudos to Kareena for vastly improving her act, she is showing some signs of maturing as an actress. Her emotional scenes definitely deserve an applause.

Special mention of Pankaj Kapur (of Karamchand fame) who makes a decent comeback (seen him in a movie after a long time).

The two ’’Prems’’ and one ’’Prem ki Diwani’’ even with their star power put together are unlikely to generate any ’’Prem’’ in the audience.
