Another review on mpkdh u guys must be bored by now. but I had to write as I went to watch the movie against my will and here is what I felt ....
the plot of mistaken identity is ages old and is reworked here in a different setting. u all know the story by now...so I wont go into the details of that...but lets examine the film point by point...
1) Performances - Abhishek comes out trumps in a subdued and sober character of a business guy. his is the best act of the movie. Kareena is a replica of her poo character in k3g but is SURPRISNGLY very effective in the last 30 mins ( this proves that shahrukh and kareena act better when they have minimal dialogues ). Hrithik has hit his lowest point in his career with this act ..a loud character his is in the movie but sorry to say he has gone overboard and overacted shamlessly. the supporting cast of himani shivpuri ( shrieky ..perfect as kareena’s mom ) , pankaj kapoor as the henpecked husband ( is aloknath on leave )and reema lagoo as abhi’s mom ( she acts on remote control in barjatya’s movie. she knows exactly which expression to be given and how). johnny lever is the pits as is the rest of the cast.
2) Music - Anu malik is back with his tunes that are okay . a couple of songs are good the rest forgettable . so the music doesnt help much here.
3) Director - the guy sooraj barjatya has to take most of the blame for this movie. He is on his own trip where he thinks he can fool his audience into beleiving that sundernagar is in India !!!!!!!!!!!!! his handling of romantic and passionate scenes in the movie are like that of a man totally unsure of what he wants to shoot. the romance is very hesitant and passion feels forced.
Well if only the parents had read the first email closely, which described Prem as a quiet and shy guy they would have immediately doubted that a very talkitive and over friendly Prem who arrives is trouble. But maybe pankaj kapoor wasnt wearing specs that time.
