India is a country of a lot of great things - history, culture and great minds. However, the greatness stops there. Customer Service is not one of their fortes and will never be. What else can you expect from a country where they want to be like the Americans in their lofty desires but think like the Europeans (who ruled them as late as the 1940s) when it comes to caring.
I was at the Residency Towers (Crown Room) with some friends last evening for dinner and drinks. The wait staff were very friendly and courteous. About 10 minutes in to the evening, there were quite a few mosquitos nibbling on our hands and feet trying a to fulfil their hunger as well.
We informed the restaurant manager of this and were advised of two things - no one else was complaining (and so maybe you shouldnt either) and it is because of the plants in the restaurant and we will try to fix the issue. An hour goes by and there was no resolution to the problem and the number of mosquitos had just increased. We went further to request a "zapper" so that we could take care of the problem ourselves and this request went unheeded again.
It was definitely an unbearable ambiance trying to ward off bites on your hands and feet while trying to focus on the food on your plates. I am at appalled at how such a place could have been given a four "*" rating to begin with and also by the lack of responsiveness of the restaurant manager (S. Daniel Tennyson - Asst. Manager Banquets).I was told that I would be given a call from the property manager this morning and am still waiting to hear back from them.
Bottom line, I provided my contact information to them and told them that I would need to speak with someone high up before I pay my bill (roughly rs 4000 +tip). I am waiting to hear from their management team and am sure that in order to save their face, they would rather go down the path of not calling me.
Only time will tell as to whether they will contact me, but one thing is for sure, I will not be visiting that property ever again nor will I be recommending it to any of my friends or business associates.
