The old residency hotel in GN Chetty Road is a perfect place for a lunch outing in chennai. Its economic, value for money, memorable place.
I had been there quite a lot time for lunch and I never felt let down or items repeated. They serve quite a lot variety of salads. Especially russian salad is good. The lunch buffet has both South Indian and North Indian items, both veg and non-veg. Being a vegitarian, I dont know the quality of non-veg items. But vegitarian items are cooked well. Only item that may not be upto the expectation is the soup. They make it quite bad. But the other chat items, indian bread varieties and their side dishes are very good. A pulav also comes in, which is very good. For south indian items, kara kuzhambu two poriyals, kootu, sambar rasam and curd make it a full sumptous meal. Also u get a pudding and sweet porridge. After this you have gulab jamoon for dessert. Two ice creams u have, one plain vennilla and other one is flavoured. U get cakes and some seasonal fruit salad and sweets for dessert. The buffet bowls are refilled immediately. The ambience of the lunch also is very good, and the staffs are very affable and helpful.
The starters are very good. Better to go there after a reservation, as there are lot of ppl there on week ends treating their taste buds.
