Just enjoy pure entertainment from MPKK

Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya Review

When David Dhawan makes a film, you know it focus on one thing, COMEDY. Movies like Aankhen, Raja Babu, Hero No.1, Coolie No.1, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Saajan Chale Sasural, Judwaa, Biwi No.1, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi were all Hits at box-office. David Dhawan always makes filsm for one purpose, ENTERTAINMENT. And Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya (MPKK) doesn’t disappoint. It offers the right ingredients to make it a winner at the box-office. But you know what makes it me mad, people saying there is no logic in David Dhawan films. When was their ever logic in his film. All you have to do is leave your brains at home, and enjoy pure entertainment.

Sameer Malhotra (Salman Khan) is a doctor who is in love Soniya(Katrina Kaif), a model. A nurse named Naina(Sushmita Sen) works with him, and secretly likes Salman Khan. Naina handles his appointments, his girlfriends, his patients. He doesnt want to get serious with any of his girlfriends so he tells them he is married, however he falls in love with Soniya. So in order to get her, he needs a fake wife, a fake divorce and etc. And who else to do it better than Naina his nurse. However, an idiot Pyare Mohan(Sohail Khan), who is Sonia’s neighbour, creates even more dielmma for the doctor. The rest of the story is how Sameer has to tell a hundred lies to cover his first lie and how he handles the situation.

When it comes to direction, David is the emperor of comedy and no one can ever take that title away from him, with the except of the late Manmohan Desai!! His direction in Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya is very good. After starting his first comedy film in Aankhen (1993), his style has changed a lot from Aankhen to Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya.   Anyways, David, you are the man. You can save the industry a lot. However, the climax was sort of a let down, as it seemed to be rushed.

Himesh Reshammiya is again the best youngest music director we have right now in Bollywood. The soundtrack is great. Every song is great, except Teri Meri Love Story.

Every song is chartbuster quality. However the pick of the lot is easily Dil Di Nazar and Sajan Tumse Pyar.

The production values is superb, costumes were nice. Dialogues are so-so, as it repeats from other Bollywood films. Cinematography is excellent, while the camerawork is upto par.

MPKK easily belongs to Salman Khan. Salman Khan is the heart and soul of this film, and he surely doesn’t disappoint. Comedy comes easily in Salman Khan. The girls were going crazy for him when he appeared. He handles his role with upmost sincerely, and gives a superb performance.

Sohail Khan is a revelation. His character was suppose to be an idiot, and he lived upto it. His facial expression and the way he conveyed his dialogues are funny. Overall, a fantastic performance. The Sohail-Salman pair is great and it shows onscreen.

Sushmita Sen is the best performer in the female category. Not only does she look stunningly hot in the Laga Laga Re song (I was cheering for her), she gives a heart-rending performance and emerge victorious. No doubt, the Salman-Sush pair was electryifying. One word of advice to Salman, married Sushmita Sen, you look great together.

Katrina Kaif does good in her first full performance. There is room for improvement, but still, a good performance. But I got to admit, this gyal is very pretty. She has a cute smile and a killer body. Her pair with Salman is great, but sorry, Salman looked better with Sush.

Whenever Arshad Warsi is around in a comedy role, you know he can do full justice, and with MPKK, he does it again. Everytime he came up, the audience were laughing at his jokes. Without doubt, Arshad is great when it comes to comedy.

Rajpay Yadav is again perfect in his small role. He excels once again, and had the audience laughing so much in the Dil Di Nazar song.

Isha Koppikar is good in her small role. The lady as Salman mother rocked in her role. She is natural in comedy. Arbaaz Khan played a funny role for his short appearance.

Overall, MPKK is your perfect ticket at the box-office. He succeed at making you laugh. It has trump cards as performance, hit music, good direction as its asset. Also, with Salman Khan (despite the controversy) always making movies succeed lately at box-office, the movie, hopefully, emerge a winner at the box-office.

8.5/10 (great film)
