Enter Digital Cameras as Film cameras are on their way out.
Digital cameras have become cheaper compared to what they were 2-3 years ago. Now anyone who can spend Rs.10000 can buy a good digital camera - from among the various International brands now available in India.
When you go for a digital camera buy one which has more mega pixels - the more pixels you have the clarity of the picture will be more. So go for a 5-7 MP camera. All digital cameras use rechargeable batteries. So keep a set of extra charged batteries with you always. All digital cameras will have a provision to keep a memory card - the memory card keeps the pictures taken by you as the camera itself can keep only few photographs.
Once the memory card is full or if you feel it is time to remove the photos taken to another storage device.say a computer or a data disk etc. or a studio to get it printed, do that and empty the memory card and keep it ready for the next photo session. Using digital cameras you can capture brief videos and watch it on computer monitor. Latest digital cameras can play the videos on a TV monitor directly using the TV out.
Using the digital zoom on these cameras, you can select a particular portion of a group photo - say the loved one from the group - zoom it and keep a separate copy of that for printing etc.
The most important thing a digital camera can do is show the photograph taken on the screen for you to watch immediately which will help you to edit, erase and retake.
