Microwave oven is a part of our family.In these days of fast life, we all depend on it’s service most of the time.In order to get a longer service for many years, we need to keep it in good shape by maintaining it properly.
I am here to give you some helpful hints in cleaning of the microwave oven.
Before cleaning the microwave oven, you must unplug the power cord. This is a safety precaution. If this is not possible, open the oven door to prevent an accidental starting of oven.
Open the oven door after microwave cooking to allow the air inside to move out.To clean the interior of microwave oven you can wipe with a solution of baking soda and water.But don’t use any detergents because that may act with the food you cook inside. Never use a commercial oven cleaner on any part of your microwave oven.
Inside the microwave oven, some spatters can be removed with a paper towel. Excessive oil spatters on the inside top will be difficult to remove if left for many days. Wipe spatters with a wet paper towel, especially after cooking non-vegetarian items like chicken or bacon. Greasy spatters can be removed with a sudsy cloth.Then you have to rinse with a damp cloth.
I have what is called’Spatter shield’ which I spread on top of the food in the container while cooking or heating. This is a nylon cloth-like material, which I bought in a departmental stores here.It doesn’t allow the food to get splattered inside your microwave oven. So, your cleaning is minimised! Try to get that for your oven too.
It is important to keep the area clean, where the door seals against the microwave. To clean the door surface of the oven, use only a mild soap or detergent using a sponge or soft cloth.Rinse with damp cloth and wipe dry.
The turntable and rotating ring are removable. They should be hand-washed. You can wash them in warm water with soap or with a mild detergent and a soft cloth. Once they are clean, rinse well and dry with a soft cloth. You can also wash them in the dishwasher.Never use cleaning powders, steel wool or rough pads.
You can clean the outside of the microwave oven with a sudsy cloth. Rinse and then dry. Control panel and door should also be wiped with a damp cloth.Do not use any cleaning sprays, soap or water. They can damage the panel.
After cleaning the control panel, touch stop/clear to clear any entries that might have been entered accidentally while cleaning the panel.Also make sure that the turntable and rotating ring are in the right position, whenever you cook in the microwave oven.
When you take proper care in cleaning and maintaining your microwave, it will not only look good in your kitchen but also render many years of great service!
