I have owed my most recent microwave oven for over 10 years. It is a very inexpensive model (Goldstar) but works extremely well.
Important things to remember:
• always keep your oven clean and
• NEVER, Never turn your oven on while empty.
The easiest way I have found to keep my micro clean is to wipe up spills immediately and, if there is a splatter that sticks, put a bowl of water into the oven and run it for about a minute. After running the oven you’ll find that all the splatters have loosened and it will only take a simple wipe up to have a shiny clean oven interior.
Little Hint: You can put some scent into the bowl and add a nice aroma to your home while running the micro to clean it.
