The storyline is pretty predictable. No unnecessary twistings or foolish suspenses. But the director scores in the screenplay. Inspite of a weak storyline, the movie goes at an interesting pace until the last half an hour because of its crisp screenplay. Thankfully, no punch dialogues, no sycophantic praises to boost the heros image.
The story is about vikram, and psupathy both the adopted sons of manivannan..The 3 are small time thievs and suddenly they decide to reform...So they migrate to another village. Here they lock horns with the local bigwig kalingaraayar....how they manage to survive the odds and help vijayakumaar;s family that gave them shelter is the rest of story.
Vikram has done a neat job. He has played the rustic quite well. The costumes that he wore in the song sequences - color lungis( he was kind of dressed in a uniform dress...same color) were jarring..Otherwise, it is not a tough job for him. But if you expect to see anniyan type role...u r in total diasppointment...he basically gels with the cast very well.
Pasupathy in a way can be said the real hero of the movie. His comedy timing is superb and has stolen the limelight right under vikrams nose. His mannerisms and his english espeially to impress anu prabhakar are absolutely hilarious and they bring the house down.
Manivannan is ok...there is nothing much to say.
Vadivelu isnt very funny as he is intended to be. Infact Pasupathys comedy is better than Vadivelus
The role of heroines is miniscule...Asins entire dialogues can be summed up in 1 sheet. She is thre simple to fill in the songs. If you expect something similar ti ghajini...it will be a total disappointment..
Music is average. Nothing great about. The tumes are rehashed versions of the earlier peppy tunes. ChecheChe song is a little in terms of the tune.
If you are looking for a light hearted entertainer to have a few laughs, Maja might be the right candidate. On the other hand if you like some hero-worship movie or extension of anniyan sort thing.. it will be better to give this movie a miss
