I had been to Malaysia/Singapore on Vacation during December 2004 for 7 days. It was a lovely trip via Doha. We flew by Qatar Airways which has excellent Inflight Service. Qatar Airways flies you via DOHA (Capital of Qatar). Since my friend/travel guide is a frequent traveller he offered me his First Class ticket.
It is 8 hours flight from Doha to KualaLumpur, Malaysia. On reaching KLIA (KualaLumpur International Airport) the air suddenly becomes very fresh and healthy as you descend. As Malaysia is located in the Equatorial region the Flora and Fauna is very rich. The air is very clean as you step outside and no dust anywhere. KLIA is a huge airport in the sense extends for Acres. To go from one terminal to the central one you need to take the Shuttle/ Metro. The Airport is wonderful with all shops, electronics. On top you have glass and can see the rain forest outside. By the time you reach the exit you get really tired. There are Money changers in the Airport. After that we were whisked away to Genting Highlands by Van. The roads are clean and you want see any one on the road except for grass cutting done by machines. There is greenery with rubber and banana plantations everywhere. When we reached one of the checkpoints I glanced outside my window and I see a red Ferrari. Then the Ferrari leaves and within seconds it’s gone. We were joking among ourselves that we will see it come back on the other side withing 15 minutes. Then the road climbs towards Genting which is almost as high as Mahableshwar, Mumbai. Then you reach a different world with Amusement parks, First World Hotel and Recreation Centers connected by walk-ways and escalators. For 4 days you are inside a complex connected by escalators. I stayed in the First World Hotel. There is an amusement park where you have water rides, boating, Space Shoot where you are thrown down from a 500m shaft, RollerCoaster rides, MerryGo Rounds, Free floating in Space. There are also Casinos, SnowWorld (Artificial Snow) where we threw snowballs at one another. You can also do skying...
You get Good Buffet Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. It was raining in one of the days and the place was looking fabulous. We played Bowling, saw Russian Ballet by World Famous Artists. Then we moved on from Genting towards KualaLumpur City where you could see the Petronas and various attractions.
We came down from Genting via Cable Car journey that lasted 2-1/2 hrs over dense forests where there could be wild animals. Then from there by bus towards KualaLumpur City.On the way we went to Batu Caves where there are quite a few indian temples and statues of Gods and Goddesses. We moved on to
our hotel in KL Holiday Villa, Subang where we stayed for 3 days. The rooms are excellent and on side of the room is full glass facing a lake and the entire KL City that looks great at Night. Then next day we went to the famous Shopping Mall in KL (MidValley Mall) where you could buy clothes, electronics, food ...
We spent 5 hours there and then moved around and saw the breath taking Petronas Twin Towers which has the offices of the biggest Companies. There is a tower near by called Minara from the top of which you can see the entire KL and the Twin Towers. Each of the Twin Towers have a Helipad on top of 80 floors. Then there are other places like Pewter Factory, Swiss Watch Factory Outlet, Royal Palace, some National Monuments, and Petronas at Night. At Night the Petronas looks wonderful with each circular floor light by lights.
Then we boarded a bus with our baggage to goto Singapore. So we said bye to Subang and prepared for immigration for Singapore. We crossed over to Singapore by bus over a bridge. Our Guide James made our journey enjoyable by talking to us about Singapore.
Overall I enjoyed my Stay in Malaysia especially the Amusement park.
