I went on a holiday to Malaysia last November(2001). I was there for 12 days and they were 12 of the best days of my life. Malaysia is a beautiful country which offers something for everyone. If you trip on culture and sightseeing, there is Melaka, Sarawak and lots of places around KL that are great day trips. If you are into food, then this is the place for you - there is Chinese, Malay, Teppenyaki, Nyonya, Indian, Japanese(lots of sushi) and Western, continental. A word of caution - it is tough for vegetarians in Malaysia, especially in places other than Kuala Lumpur. Now, if you are an adventure lover, then go ahead, make the trip to Pattaya for the water sports and Langkawi for the snorkelling and scuba diving.The snorkelling in Langkawi is done on an island about an hour’s ride away by speed boat.The water here is crystal clear and you get to see some lovely underwater life especially sharks.Its a full day trip and well worth the expense.All hotels in Langkawi also offer week long scuba diving lessons at the end of which you get a Beginners Certificate. The prices are a bit steep but you should haggle and get them down.There’s fun for kids too- my son had a blast in the two days we spent at Genting.There is also lots for shopaholics - Kuala Lumpur has some terrific malls with some of the biggest and best labels from across the world. Also great picks for me were the traditional batik scarves and skirts-really chic and cool!!! Not to mention the sleeping lady mask from Sarawak- a real treasure. All in all, I had a wonderful time. It is a must see-must do for everyone. Highly, highly reccommended!!!!!!!
