This my wife and my second trip to The Maldives. We have stayed at 3 resorts, Kurumba(our 1st trip) Baros, and a new resort Carpe Diem Beach Resort. Also we were aboard the live aboard dive boat(safari boat) M/V Carpe Vita(2 10 day trips 1st visit 2yrs ago and 1 10 day trip Feb 2019). The scuba diving in The Maldives is just beautiful(not for beginners because of strong currents) and I have never in my life(and I’m not young .think 66) met such friendly people. Now no place is perfect so in my opinion and only my opinion The Maldives does have some weak links(this is my term). One is the way you get to a resort that is not close to the airport is via a seaplane(think small, noisy, cramped) now for whatever reason(breakdown, bad weather or just very late) you can miss your flight home or in reverse late to the resort. Then Boom happens and you will need time and money when Boom happens. Only my opinion second week link, garbage, this place is in the middle of nowhere and trash is a big problem, there is plastic all over the place(not at resorts they clean to a tee) especially bottles.
