The coral Necklace

Ever thought of a romantic, totally hassle free holiday where you can simply relax on the beach away from your fax machines and polluting streets? Well then there is no other place like maldives. Maldives is located to the south, south-east of India. By air it takes about 30-45 mins from Trivandrum. Indian airlines and Air lanka have good connections to this place. You can also reach here by sea But I think you enquire about it with your Travel Agent.

The Beauty of Maldives starts right when you are in the air howering for clearance to land. Maldives is made of about 1200 small islands. It’s name comes from the derivative of the world Necklace. Maldives are coral Islands which means the land here has been developed due to piling up of corals. You will realise how beautiful it is once you get here.

Well coming back to our arrival, the airport here is situated on a lone Island, probably the biggest of all. Just as we have villages in India, There are such separate Islands for every cause in the Maldives. They have one for their capital, one is a fishing island, and there are loads of tourist Islands. You don’t need a visa to come to Maldives, Your passport is stamped at the airport on arrival. The means of geting about on these islands is the Dhoni a small diesel powered boat, it seems very unstable at the beginning but you get used to it gradually.

Well enough of the fundamentals. Once you get here head straight to your resort, all resorts have their separate island, and this improves its beauty. The taj hotels have 2 of their resorts. All rooms have a part of the beach for themselves hence this makes the perfect spot for honeymooners. Water spot activites are a must here. You can go scuba diving to view the exotic underwater life or if you are not such a good swimmer try the underwater walk or snorkelling. Besides there is surfing, skiing, paragliding and much more.

The evenings are perfect for fishing, all resorts offer you rides in the ocean where you can pick some fish. Even if you are fishing for the first time, you are sure to catch atleast 2 or 3. Such is the abundance here. Heading back you can have your fish fried, grilled or even tandoored. After that dinner you can retire to your room or take a stroll around the island. All islands are a max half a km in circumfrence. The wind and the sparkling water under the stars meets you to heaven.

Maldives fulfills your secret wish of being marooned on an exotic island. There is simply no flaw to this paradise. Everything is natural here. However Maldives is highly threatened by the global warming crisis. It is expected that the islands will go under water by 2020. Hence pack your bags now! Who knows you might not get back there again.
