Hi all,
Best part of all R K narayan books is that they are pretty simple and you can associate with the characters in the book. I have been fascinated by R K Narayans story telling technique from the past 13 years.
Malgudi days, is a series of short stories, as the author himself tells that these bring out the best in the character during crisis.
My favourite among the malgudi days is a story called Fathers Help. It is hilarious. For example, swami decides that he should skip the school today, he sincerely prays god that an earthquake should flatten the school building etc., There is another story about attila, the dog, Read it and you will surely enjoy it. Some stories are pretty serious, but believe me they are quite good for part time reading. There are other stories about how a person wins an unwanted gift like a road roller and is exploits with it. Indianising british constructed streets etc are quite funny.
If you are keen on reading short stories, this is the book for you. Above all I get fascinated with R K Narayans this book is because he has made this fictious place called Malgudi so popular.
