This is how Sridevi, the one and only, yesteryears screen idol introduces herself to her North Indian family..Malini Iyer is her new make up, donned for Sahara TV, aired on mondays and tuesdays 9 PM.
The serial takes off with a North Indian boy ( man) marrying a SouthIndian girl ( woman) Malini Iyer played by Sridevi. Even though the serial has Sridevi the beauty in the lead, from the take off, I would say it cannot be compared to the story of our plain Jane Jassi the genius. But yes there are glimpses of the past Sridevi’s mischievous antics. The serial is produced by Boney Kapoor, and directed by film director Satish Kaushik, but it seems he is yet to learn catering to TV. There is a lot to be done on the directorial front to pull up the serial from the initial sag.
The camera , seems to focus only on Sridevi(trying to conceal the ageing process ) but still looking beautiful in her 9 yards silk sarees and looking cute too. The family also does not make any impact as of now. The background laughs seems to be irritating, as if the audience need some prodding to even smile at some made up antics.But, maybe after seeing it for a while, a better judgement can be given. So for now, I am going to watch her sarees for a while.
