Manali is going to remain as one of the Favorite destination of mine from North Indian Hill stations.Though it is a bit tiring journey on road to reach this destination, but it makes you forget your journey memories & fill you with new synergy & excitement once you reach Manali. It is full of activities with hustle bustle of tourists.`
Food, sight-seeing and shopping
The restaurants & eateries are all the same old Favorites For Chinese cuisine nothing like Chopsticks in the main market, for North Indian delicacies you have many options but prefer to give a try at Shere-E - Punjab(original restaurant), in the main market . There are many good options for pizza & burger lovers, but they are bit away from the main market .Johnsons Restaurant, Pine Treat, both serve very tasty wood baked Pizzas & other tasty continental dishes.
Activities & things to do
If you are a nature lover & a good adventurer, than this is the place to be. On our sight seeing trip in Manali. the must & must place for all the tourists is to go to visit is Rohtang Pass, to enjoy the snow covered mountains & play snow games & enjoy ski, sledging, ski moped trip .But unfortunately this place is open for just 4 months i.e June - September, it is 52 kms. from Manali .While coming back we have to face a heavy traffic jams as thousand of vehicles are standing on the side ways of the narrow( this is the only parking facility available!). Tourists who started late like say by 8 or 9 in the morning from there respective hotels have to satisfy their hunger of enjoying the snow & activities much before the Rohtang Pass point about 20- 25 kms before itself near the places like Marhi & Vyas Kund which are small eatery & relaxation points on the way to Rohtang Pass. No Traffic is allowed to pass onwards from these places after 9 o clock as the road on the way to Rohtang point is already jammed full with vehicles. Reached back to Manali around 1 p.m( 5 hours tiring journey for 52 kms) we still consider ourselves very lucky after this because the other tourists who have started late in the morning can reach only half way through and also have to be in the traffic for almost double the time, Thus 50% of the tourists you can find on their way back to Manali pulling their hairs in anger & frustration, I am not joking it is very true, Dont believe than me try it once!. After reaching back hit the bed right way & took rest for long 4-5 hours, got up in the evening freshened up & visit the main market to satisfy your hunger, do little window shopping along with your companion.came back to room enjoyed the Dinner in the hotels Roof top Restaurant of our Hotel - Whispering Valley Resorts . Read my review on this Hotel in details on Holiday IQ, you can give a thought to it as it is very nice budget hotel. Next morning plan to cover the rest of the Manali town sightseeing & the Solang Valley Point( another must visit place for both religious & adventures people).Solang valley is known for the Skiing point is winters but in summer time it is known for Para gliding, Cable car journey, and many other activities. The Rope way cable car was started just 2 years back . It was very nice experience to go by rope way( price of the ticket could be bit expensive for some budget travellers). The view from the top of Rope way is breathtaking and it is moneys worth you spent . A person can sit here & enjoy the beauty & can also take part in some adventures games conducted here(Of course you have to pay for everything. nothing comes free). In Solang valley we visited Anajaya & Shiv temple situated on the other side of valley, We hired Ponys to visit this place. These temples are situated on a little steep point( climb about 50- 60 steps) after crossing a small stream & some big stones around it. This complete journey to Temples take about 1 hour time. Started back from Solang Valley to cover the other local points in Manali town.First place which is on way to Manali was Vashisht Temple, famous for its sulphur springs, Next visited Club house, known for many recreational activities for children & adults so not to missed, thats the reason it is over crowded whenever you visit this place in day time. Lot of small eatery joints, restaurants & shops are opened in this place. Next place we visited was Manu temple in Situated In Old Manali Town, The walk in this old town amidst old style homes is not be missed. But many tourists give it a miss as they are not interested going there, Thats why this place is the most preferred location of foreign tourists(away main town rush). They love this place & the atmosphere of this old town. There are number of Guest houses for their accommodation & best of the Bakeries & Cafes of Manali which serve these tourists here with all the Continental food they desire for.Manu temple is situated in the midst of old town, very clean & without any tourist rush. Our next destination from here was Hadimba Temple(last destination), It is located beautifully in the midst of green trees. It was very much over crowded & you can witness long queues of devotees waiting to enter inside of the main temple to offer their prayers . As it started raining, so we gave away thought of standing in a queue to enter the inner part of temple & just paid our respect from the outside doors of the temple. Came back to hotel again relaxed a bit had evening tea in th e hotel balcony viewing The Beas river flowing it its full throttle( very different experience when compared to evening tea at home).Visited main market for a walk had some fast food in famous joints. Came back, had late dinner in Hotel Restaurant, Gone to sleep as Tomorrow was long journey back along with covering extra 60 kms to visit Manikaran sahib ji Gurudwara & Shankar Temple situated side by side. Next morning had early breakfast & started our back journey to Chandigarh via Manikaran Sahib. Overall it was a good Adventurous Cum Religious trip.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
I travelled from Delhi - Chandigarh by morning Shatabadi Train .From Chandigarh It Is 10 hours long journey covering distance of 310 km. in between 2-3 stoppages for lunch, tea, refreshments etc. Reached Manali hotel at 9.30 in night & transferred to our rooms within 10 minutes of our arrival. The manager himself was waiting on the reception for our arrival, .After refreshing had light dinner in hotel restaurant & straight away hit the bed as we had to get up at 3o clock early morning to go to Rohtang Pass. The precautions one should take while travelling to & in Manali is, first travel light stomach, dont gulp heavy fried dishes before & during the journey. good for you health & others too.Or you may while sick .Carry light woolens while travelling, Beacuse weather in & around Manali can change in no time.It is my personal advise to all the tourists that they should visit this place only if you are physically fit enough to face the rough road & weather conditions.Best time to visit this place is between May - June & if you love to enjoy only snow than October - December. Well thats all for now . Have a happy & safe journey to Manali.
