Heavenly manali

I was working in Noida from Nov, 2003 to June, 2004. I took the opportunity to visit some of the places in Uttaranchal and Himachal. Most of the times it was a weekend trip. For manali I planned a 3 day trip in April. Later I realized it’s such a pleasant place and one needs to spend at least a week.

I traveled by bus from Noida. Its long 15hrs journey. I felt a break journey is better. All along the route as you near Kullu the terrain is fascinating.

The road to manali is along the Bias river giving very good views all along. We checked in to a hotel. They had 3 day package for 4500/- . Day 1 we toured the manali village and old manali.

The valley is lush green with tall trees and mountains. The view of snow capped peaks at a distance and the temperature made the stay heavenly experience. Day 2 we were taken to Manikaran where we visited a Gurudwara with hot water spring. we were shown a rabbit farm.

It was actually a private farm. Some local and German rabbits were kept. looked like a shop selling rabbits. Then we stopped for shopping. My wife picked up a couple of shawls. Day 3 we went towards Rohtang pass. We reached the snow point, where the snow world begins.

It was the first experience for my wife and me. The site is wonderful. We could go just a little further than snow point. There was snow fall a few days ago and the road was not clear further. I wished I could spend a few days more.
