Manas National Park and it's experiences

In January 2016, we had to submit a ecological report on a naturally gifted place and a thought of Manas national park came to our mind instantly. So, we decided our place and fixed the date 07/01/2016 for our trip to Manas National Park.It is a national park which is located in the foothills of the Eastern Himalaya and is densely forested area between Kokrajhar, Chirang and Barpeta districts. It is also called as Manas wildlife sanctuary and it is declared as world heritage site, Tiger reserve project and Elephant reserve project by UNESCO.Peoples came here picnic purposes also. We, a team of 5 students started our journey at 7 am and we have reached manas national park at about 10-11 am.We have cleared all the paperwork and get our passes to enter in the territory. We spend some time inside the forest at Mathanguri on the bank of Manas river near Bhutan border. In the conversation with the authority we came to know that it’s area is 950 km².It was established in 1990.They have told that various types of Mammals, Birds, Reptiles and threatened species are also conserved here.Manas is famous for its rare and endangered endemic wildlife Assam roofed turtle, Pygmy hog and population of the wild water buffalo. We have observed Elephants, Dears, Golden Langurs and Peacocks.Rhinoceros, Asian golden cat and Indian Tigers, Indian Leopards, Black Panthers are also present here, but we were not so much fortunate to get a view of them. The Manas hosts 450 species of birds and among them endangered Bengal florican is found, which has largest population than anywhere. We observed Great Hornbils, Peacocks, Bulbuls and some kind of Ducks.Again 543 plants species have been recorded from the core zone.We have been told that the place gets it’s name from the river Manas which flows through the national park.We have feel the beauty of nature and it’s relation with mankind.A evergreen climate forest can be seen in the northern part of the park.

We had prepared our lunch on the bank of the river. Our lunch was veg biriyani and chicken curry. We sat on the bank of the river and ate it, enjoying the beauty of nature. After lunch, we cleared the place and started our return journey at about 4.30 pm. and reached home. Overall our journey was full of excitement, knowledge and adventures. We have enjoyed a lot whole the day and it would always be remembered as one of the best day of our life.
