A hamlet in the woods- that was my first impression of Mandore guest house. The property is nestled in Mandore, which is about seven kilometres away from Jodhpur city. The place is right next to a busy street and one of the prime attractions in Jodhpur, the Mandore Gradens, but once you are inside the property, the outside world is completely cut off. It was my first visit to Jodhpur and like most people; I expected any city in Rajasthan to be a devoid of any greenery.
Thus I was surprised to find Mandore guest house covered with trees and plant. That’s the first thing that hits you as soon as you enter, the greenery.
The ambience is completely Rajasthani, traditional huts with wall paintings, huge swings, bright curtains, massive wooden doors, carved wooden furniture….the list goes on. They also have suites and bungalows. The interiors are extremely comfortable and most importantly very clean. By evening the guest house is completely transformed with lights and bonfires. The crowd that comes to Mandore is mostly foreigners and very few Indian families or couples
The rent starts at Rs 1200 per night. The food in Mandore is vegetarian, simple but delicious nonetheless. The service might be a little slow but the staff make it up with their hospitality.
