Mangal Pandey-The 'mediocre classic'

Dear Aamir,

This is a letter from a movie buff to a most versatile actor of country.First let me know why you choose either new directors or directors who had limited capabilities.

I did not remember when Ketan mEhta had given an average film last time leave apart afantastic film.

The script of Mangal Pandey tells you again & again that it is written by same guy Mr. Farookh Dhoondhy who had messed up also with Kisna(one more mediocre classic). The narrative tries too hard to satisfy all Bollywood masala apetite and ruining the soul of patriotism. Most part of the movie fails to define the pathetic conditions of Indian those times.

Exceelent performers like Rani & Amisha are wasted in order to fit front benchers desire.

Dialogues fail to evoke any emotion in audience.Cinematogarphy is good. The biggest disappointment after director & scriptwriter is Mr. Rehamn.I think this is the most average score from him in last some time.Except title track, all songs fail to capture your heart.Lyrics by Javed saab are good but let down by average music.

Now I want to ask a question to Mr. Aamir why he says that in order to do good performances, he can’t do more than 1 movie at a time.Just see MR. SRK(Main Hoon Na, Veer-Zaara & Swades) & Mr. Big B(Black, BNB, Virrudh & Waqt) how they give 3-4 superhit movies every year as well as fantastic performances. Its all about keeping your fans happy & stretching your limits.

I still think that most of the sensibile(i already met a dozen) audience will like a real story of patriotism i.e. Swades over an imaginary & bad written Mangal pandey.I have more than respect for our martyr but not for a badly made & overpublicized movie.

Take care Mr. Aamir with Rakesh Om prakash Mehra(remember Aks!) also in next venture Rang De Basanti!
