After Lagaan ....classic songs are missing from all the albums. ....so many movies came with truely marvellous song like ROG and all ....but all have their own place ..... something was missing from all albums .....i guess that is the Magic Spell of Rehman and it finally arrived in 1857 The Rising ......
About the Album in general I can say that it is truly Classical and too good to hear and a must for everyone’s collection.
Song’s Lyrics and Music are inspired by the movie itself and represents the the feelings of that time ....
now about the songs ..... Eight Songs in all ....and truly example of Classicness with Modernisation of Rehman .
MANGAL MANGAL (2.29) this song represents the theme of the movie with a lot of thought given to the lyrics .... Sang by Kailash Kher ....starting of the album.
MAI VARI VARI (4.51) Kavitha Krishnamurthy, Reena Bharadwaj ...i do not know about Reena Bhardwaj but the combination of these two singers leads to an absolute Mindblowing Song and Rehman’s music make it a Gem is each sense ......sometimes the song gives you an impression of Kehna ki kya from movie Bombay ....
HOLI RE (4.51) Aamir Khan, Udit Narayan, Madhushree, Srinivas, Chinmaye .....all of them played some part in this song’s singing .......Aamir Khan did some hindi Rapping Part ....very good song and you should hear it fully and represents the Color of holy mixed with Fire of Freedom .....
RASIYA (5.55) Richa Sharma, Bonnie Chakraborty .... truly a song to listen in evening .....represents a drunken state .... good song .... lyrics are good .....
MANGAL MANGAL (AGNI) (2.25) this verion of the title song is my best as it got some provoking and charging lyrics .....really best of all ....
TAKEY TAKEY (4.31) Sukhwinder Singh, Kailash Kher, Kartick Das Baul .....actually this song represents the state of india at that time ...and I guess lyrics represent some degradation in human values at that time .... contribution of kids voice is good .....
AL MADDATH MAULA (5.55) AR Rahman, Kailash Kher, Murtaza, Kadir ......Good song except some traditional opening .....but song represent people’s need of help from the God and thus this song also represent the desire of freedom at that time ....
MANGAL MANGAL (AATMA) (4.19) Sukhwinder Singh, Kailash Kher ...slighly slow then other 2 versions but best way to end a classical album.
these are the songs of the album ......and all of them are not anyway similar to the songs coming now a days and all are different ....and represents Rehman’s Leadership in Music. ....
Good album ....and a must hear of every music lover ......
