If you wish to go to Manipal hospital be prepared to pay 3 times the normal charge. My relative was hospitalized for Typhoid fever for 7 days. The entire bill came to Rs 58000!!! In a normal hospital the similar treatment will only cost 15-20k.
Inflating bills unnecessarily by showing hidden costs is routine in Manipal. Fortunately I had the insurance coverage which covered the entire expense. I had only to pay the processing charges. The weirdest aspect is that the treatment cost shoots up with the type of room chosen.
Example if you stay in semi special or general, the treatment is cost of staff, nurses, Dr Consultation fees will be less than if you stay in special!!!! A special room (mean a single room with a frequently disruptive TV!!!!) will cost you.
Rs 4000 a day!!!!!
Only aspect is that Doctors are experienced but it doesnt not justify the enormous cost. But I have high regard for the Nurses (majority of them Malayalis) who are efficient and caring. I had decided to hospitalize my relative there since it was an emergency and my office was near by but never thought that the costs will be beyond my wildest imagination.
Even though I had insurance coverage, I regret going to Manipal since indirectly I am encouraging such condemnable medical practices which inflate bills. I had decided never to visit the hospital again.
