Pathetic In-patient Care

I have been a regular client to Manipal Hospital(Airport Road) for the past 2 years, always to the OPD department and I would say I am pretty much OK with the OPD department, except that they do too many unnecessary tests . With this experience.

I thought I will get my long-pending surgery done over there. It is an implant removel in the hand and is a pretty simple and straightforward surgery and I don’t think there is anything in it to goof-up. So, I was a little careless in selecting the right hospital and went to this. Right from the moment, you get admitted, you can sense the horrible treatment.

*Treatment/Mis treatment

I have no major complaints about the implant removal as such, but the way they put my skin together after the surgery was pathetic, they used staples in such a pathetic way as if they are doing it to a pig.The result- A big ugly scar on my hand. The previous time I had at KIMS , it was those neat dissolvable stitches, which left me with a neat and small scar.

The food was so pathetic, that you might end up sick eating it, completely tasteless and not even clean. The plate in which its served stinks.

*Hospital Maintanence

*This hospital reminded me of the govt. general hospital in my native town. Its really horrible. The bathrooms literally smells like crazy and its not even easy to access.

And the beautiful sweet mosquitoes keep company in the night, aided by a noisy table-fan- yeah, no ceiling fan.

*Staff/Doctors Attitude

*I have never seen such a callous attitude ever. During discharge, I was not even told about post medication. The tablets were silently put in the cover. When I asked what they were , the nurse then explained me.

I am not even sure whether I was operated by the doctor I consulted or their junior doctors. For no good reason, they put me on full body anaesthesia. The earlier time I got the implant, the whole operation was done under local anaesthesia.

*Paper Work:

*It took me about 8 hours to finish the paper work, after the doctor said I am ready to get discharged.

*Cost:

*The cost is very high. It cost me around 23K to get my implant done in KIMS and to get it removed it cost me 27K in Manipal Hospital.

I strongly believe I was not appraised of the options in surgery in-advance , especially in terms of anesthesia and Stitches. Is there a way I can take legal action against them for the same?

My advice - Stay away from this hospital, They loot money and service as well as treatment is worse than govt. hospitals.
