Manjhi! Having seen the movie twice and knowing that its a true story, I was truly baffled! Its an extremely beautiful movie. This movie has got real depth which is lacking in most of the stories/movies of bollywood. The charater of Manjhi Dasharath is truly extraordinary and Nawazuddin has played it flawlessly.
The movie is about love. Love in its purest form between two poor villagers.
The PLOT, very briefly, is like this: There is a mountain in between two villages. People from Manhjis village have to cross the whole mountain in order to go to the other side for various survival activities like farming, hospitals etc. Once, during her pregnancy, Manhis wife tries crossing the mountain in order to reach manjhi who is farming in the other side.
She just wants to give him water and food after a heavy day of work. But while crossing the mountain she falls off and Manjhi cannot even reach the hospital on time as crossing the mountain and going to the other side is very time consuming. He is completely shatterd and decides to break this mountain in order to facilitate other people to travel to the other place. Breaking a mountain is no small thing. Its almost impossible and this man does it all alone. When a friend asks him where does he get som much energy from, Manjhi says, " ee prem hai, prem me bahut taakad hai" . Simple words but ultimate depth!
I will not talk more about the whole story because one would truly experience the depth only when one watches the movie. But essentially its about what can a person do for his love? We all have imaginations and beliefs that we can give our life for our love etc, but this man just proves it practically, what can one do for his love! Its an ultimate romance cuz what more can you expect from a love story? The actors, the shots, the emotions and the expressions are very natural and genuine. Hats off to the director! Hats off to Manjhi!A true lifetime Inspiration!
