MapMyIndia Road Pilot

Hi,

I recently (3 months before) bought mapmyindia road pilot using it’s website. I would like to summarize my experience here:

Buying Experience:

Buying experience was not good. I searched for mapmyindia roadpilot dealers in pune and found one in kondhwa. The dealer has an old instrument with old version of map. He tried to sold that one to me and told me that this is the latest version of map available!

But since I am aware of latest version of map, he was unable to make me fool. If you are planning to buy a new GPS from mapmyindia, make sure that your instrument has latest version of map loaded. After this I decided to buy it using the website. I ordered it using my credit card it was promised to me that instrument will be delivered in three to four working days.

But this promise is not kept and it took more than 10 days to deliver it. Meanwhile, whenever I tried to call them they gave me unique excuses like because of common wealth game there is a delay in delivery!! Sometimes they simply disconnected the calls.

They also never replied to mails sent to them. MapMyIndia customer care service is simply pathetic. Finally I got it after good 13-14 days

Instrument Hardware:

It is made of good plastic and have a soft touch. It is sturdy and can sustain accidental fall. Overall instrument quality is very good.

Instrument Software:

MapMyIndia’s map quality is really amazing. It is accurate and since it has voice instruction, it continuously keeps telling you about approaching turns, curves and diversions. This makes you more efficient driver because you can more concentrate on traffic instead of direction and there will be no more sudden direction change.

I recently used it to go to Kashid beach from Pune and even though I have no knowledge of road, I reached to destination without any problem. Map also helps you in finding petrol pumps and hotels along the way.

Conclusion:

It is certainly worthwhile to spend 8000/- on it. If mapmyindia can improve it’s customer service, they will be a leader in GPS instruments in India.
