I wish I didn’t spoil my Sunday evening watchin this movie.
Eeks.. didn’t I get a better option.
Maqbool... (don’t even feel like writin this name) is one of the most sickest movies I`ve ever seen. I happened to watch this movie coz the only option was ’Paap’ and the TOI rating for that movie was lesser than what they rated Maqbool.
Yea, such movies are basically meant to portray ’talent’. So people who wanna get tips or who are related to the media can go get a hang of what ’real acting’ is all about. You certainly have wonderful actors and equally wonderful perfornamces by everyone in this movie. Coz this movie is not close to being called a commercial flick. Nor an Art film too. So wat is Maqbool all about??
Well... I tried to figure out this and many other similar things, for a while after the movie started. After that I was just about wanting to get out of the theatre ASAP. There are some sick scenes. Some cheapo stuff. Makes you feel no good.
A movie is meant to entertain, not always. Yea, if thats what you think, then this movie is for you. If you wanna see what ’performances’ are all about, then this movie is for you. If you feel it’s gonna make you feel good at the end of the show then DON`T MAKE A MISTAKE. You’ll regret.
Performance wise, needless to say, each one of them is good.
Tabu has always been classy, an actress. She`s fantabulous. So is Irrfan Khan playing the title. Pankaj Kapur is too good. I feel Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri were wasted. They definitely have more talent to be exploited than being wasted in such roles.
While coming outta the theatre, I promised my friend that I shall be writing a negative review about this movie for Mouthshut. So here it is.
I wish, sincerely wish, I had gone for ’Paap’ instead.
