I had taken 3 insurance with United India Insurance Company(UIIC), for which Marsh is the insurance broker.
my parental insurance, my in-law insurance and my own family insurance were all taken from them.
The renewal period was on November 30 last year. I had some clarifications to be made from them and hence I called them for that. It used to go unanswered for all my attempts. How can a call be left unanswered whatever day and time I call them. and this is for only PAYING the insurance premium. If this itself is not responded, I could not imagine if in case Iam calling on emergency or claim.
Inspite of that I tried and got them exactly a day before it ended and after several attempts that day, they took the phone and casually said, "the date has been extended till Dec.10th". With so much advancement in communication these days, would they not have one single tool - sms or email to inform this to us?
I paid the premium on time and I was waiting for the renewal document. I got it only in the month of February. i.e. for insurance paid for 12 months, I almost lost 2 months. I dont know How I would prove myself to be a cashless customer in case I had been hospitalized in between those 2 months. As usual, after payment, there was no response or communication as to when I would receive my document.
Such is the condition of a governement insurance undertaking. Private insurance companies are atleast interested in taking our money(premium) and they atleast do a minimal follow-up and pro-activeness until then, But it is very sad that UIIC is not even interested to take our money leaving a big question mark on how they would earn the trust of public to provide prompt service during claims.
My question is not on UIIC as we know how government insurance companies work. What about Marsh. What do they do? What are they doing in the office if they are not responding to emails and phones? A standard answer would be that they are flooded with calls. If thats the case, it means their business is flourishing. Would you not deploy more people if thats the case? Marsh is serving nearly 1.7 lakhs employees from one single large IT company. so they should be expecting such flooding of calls, since the premium collected is also so high.
BE CAREFUL, ITS YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.
I have reported to IRDA on their non-responsiveness.
