I have been driving Maruthi 800 car(Not originally fitted with A/C but later on fitted by National Co. in Mudfort Secunderabad) since 1997. It is of 1997 Model. In fact it was bought for me by my Company and I am the sole driver ever since it was delivered. I drove almost 85, 100 Km so far. My observation is that during the free servicing period whoever may be the Authorised Agent - it would be just washed(not even thorughly) and whatever may be the spares that are written in the book will be replaced and charged! Later on when the paid serving comes almost all the reknowned Serving Agents(in Secunderabad and Hyderabad) make it a point to make the bill minimum Rs. Rs. 1500 to Rs. 10, 000 depending on the mileage you make.
First they allow you to talk as much as possible on your complaints! They list them religeously simply take the vehicle and send you home! Later on you will get a telephone call that they found so and so parts. are to be replaced(you do not know really they need a replacement or not!) They put you in such a dilema that you will be almost compelled to say -please go ahead! Do you know that the spares carry a minimum of 300% to 400% profit margin and of course all the taxes are put on your head. My suggestion is that during the free servicing period itself please look for a good private mechanic for small repairs.
You save a lot! You should go by the word of mouth from your well wishers on this. I am not canvassing against the authorised service stations. This version of 800 CC is not really suitable for A/C running. It consumes fuel like hell. My personal opinion is that any car less than 1000 CC is not effective for Air Condition running particularly during summers. Make sure that engine must be of 4 Cylinders type so that the power of one cylinder goes for the A/C!
