I have been driving around in a Maruti 800 for the past 8 years. Prior to that I had been using a Toyota Cresida ( 2000 cc ) when I was posted in the United Arab Emirates. The large and powerful Cresida used to take me very comfortably on the expressway from Al Ain to Dubai , a distance of 140 Km in little over an hour.
After my return to Mumbai, it was an eerie experience to drive on the congested roads ( The flyovers did not exist then). That is the time I realised the value of Maruti 800 . The car is the most ideal vehicle for a self drive in Mumbai. The two main advantages are 1. ue to the small body, it is easier to drive , especially in thick traffic and 2. Parking in a small slot is possible.
If one does not have a large family, this is the most ideal car for urban driving.
