Hello to all the Mouthshut Users. This is R.K.Mishra from ranchi. This review is to share my experiences with my old faithful buddy-The Maruti 800 DX(5-speed).Bought this car from patna on 25th March 2000, for Rs 280000/-, I have already clocked nearly 108000 kms and the car is still running strong and smooth.
My initial view about this car was very bad.Just within 2 days of its ownership, I came to know that the A/C connection was not done.I received a letter of regret from maruti when I had intimated them about this fault, A free replacement of the entire A/C kit was done through their dealership.Even an offer was made to me for the replacement of the product, if I wished as the car was merely 9 days old.But I was offered Caribbean Blue colour.I just loved my california gold colour. So I had opted for the replacement of the A/C unit.
I have covered almost every tourist spot of eastern, northern and central India with this car.Not even once has this car given us any problem admist our journey. The only care which I have taken is that of periodic maintenance and servicing as stated by Maruti.
*Engine Specs:-
*MAX POWER-45bhp
MAX TORQUE-62Nm
GEARBOX-5 SPEED M/T
Rest everything is the same as that of other maruti 800s.
*Mileage-(with 4 persons)
*Highways-20kmpl(A/Con)
22kmpl(A/C off)
City-16kmpl(with A/C on)
18kmpl(with A/C off)
*Top Speed Achieved-**115kmph
*Pros-
>*excellent reliability
>excellent road handling
>outstanding mileage
>cheap maintenance
>a value for money product
*Cons-
*Cramped up rear seating less boot space. Lesser effective A/C. I just wonder why such an outstanding product was discontinued by Maruti.I feel this step was done just to reduce a competitor for Alto LX.However still this car has a craze in True Value outlets and Second Hand Cars Showroom.
*Suggestion-If you wish to own a second hand Maruti 800, this is the option for which you should go for.You will definitely get the worth out of your hard earned money.**Suggestions and queries from valued readers are welcomed.
Regards.
