Last weekend one of my colleague requested me to accompany him to test drive Maruti Alto 800 he wants to buy. As I have no serious work to do, I readily agreed. From all sides I didnt like the design. I think it is done in casual way and just mix n match. The previous alto was simple looking but looked sober. The new design is neither bold, not stylish like Eon. I didnt expected much in the interior and I was right. Front seats are ok, but rear seats are not for long journeys and I dont think 3 people can sit at the rear seats unless you want to punish those 3 people. no music system, power window. Fit n finish is ok considering the price.
Now come to the engine and pickup. although it is 796cc engine, pickup is not up to the mark, only 47 ps. As this is a new model with refinement, I expected a good pickup but Alto 800 score point on mileage as Maruti is always known for "kitna deti hai". we tested with half( 1/2) lit. Petrol and traveled 8 km( no AC), so it is 16kmpl on city road although faced traffic signal as it was a Sunday, but any means it is fantastic. add to that you will find Maruti service center at every corner of India and low maintenance cost surely a plus point. see more http://www.goo.gl/YZrDqq
so in my view if you want a car to drive in city not bothered with pick-up and stylish design with just 4 people( 2 adult+ 2 children) and want good mileage and low maintenance cost, Maruti Alto 800 is best suited for it. Yes, price is low and will be on anyones budget.
As all these criteria matched with my colleagues requirements, I suggested Alto 800 to him and he is happy with my suggesting buying a white Alto 800. All the best my friend.
