This is my first car in my life. Since I am from a middle class family I do not want to go for a car now. but my company provided it as a incentive. they are going to give maruti 800 basic(2.20lacks). initially company will pay 30% initial amount. rest of the amount they will be paying it as EMI(3yr) as I achieve my target.
But I dont want to go for maruti 800 since the maruti going to stop the sales by 2010 in chennai. I decided to go for alto. the difference one lack I paid from my side. I am going to get deliver my car by this 27th. my GM is coming to chennai to present the car. khiviraj motors is giving me a discount of 14, 500. I went for accessories package of 20k. for that I paid 3000k extra(14, 500+3000=17, 500). They are giving following accessories. its really a ideal deal when comparing to other dealers.

*and the following reasons I went for ALTO*
*1.cost.: *
even middle class families can afford
*2.maintenance:*
very low maintenance. till 3ed free service only two times engine oil change. after 20000kms service gap is 10000kms. maximum 2to 4k per service.
*3.mileage:** excellent for a petrol car, here it scores high. city 17kmpl with out AC on&14 to 15kmpl with AC on. High way 19-20kmpl with AC on, 22-23kmpl without AC on.(Gentle drive)
*4.looks:** good looking car in 300k range. that too interior.
*5. five speed gear box (800 has got 4speed)
6.comparing to 800, AC is too good.*
*7.power steering(only one car has got it at 3lacks range):** offers very very smooth drive
*8.It has got 12 valve engine (800 has got only 6)*
*9.remote fuel lid opener(800 doesn’t)*
*10.booster assisted brakes**(800 doesn’t have it): Breaks are really good. breaking distance is lower than wagonR. both has got 8’’inch disk.
*11.power 47Bhp**( 800 has got only 37bhp)
*12.better wheel base of 236cm**( 800 has got only217.5): Offers great safety.
*13.better suspension than 800.*
*14.Electronic Trip meeter.*
*15.Floor front console with CUP holder.
16.front door pockets on both doors.
*Cons with alto**:
1.A major cons which is been complaining by 99% of the users of is pickup drops when switch on AC. yes its been quiet obvious with 800cc maruti engine. pickup drops by 20 to 30%.(same problem comes with maruti 800 also but the ac is not powerful like alto)
2.rear seat leg space: yes those who are sits at rear. they feel uncomfortable.
3.gap between accelerator pedal and break pedal.
4.inbuilt outside rear view mirror. (but we can change it)
- Doesn’t have RPM meeter.
6.It doesn’t have cabin light for rear passengers.(I am going to fix it separately)
Every car has got its own plus and minus. alto also has got a major cons that is ’power drops when AC witched on’. but still for its mileage, that cons has to be accepted. because it has got many other advantages like power steering with 300k range ext..... more over its been a time tested car. satisfied most of the indian customer and it sold maximum within short time apart from indica(indica widly used by travels) **SO IF YOUR BUDGET IS THREE LACK GO WITH ALTO CONFIDENTLY. BS4 EMISSION RATED ALTO GOING TO LAUNCH BY THE END OF APRIL 2010 WAIT AND GO FOR THAT WHICH WILL BE HAVING SAME ENGINE (NOT KB10 LIKE NEW ZEN). WITH SOME MODIFICATIONS WITH A ENGINE. **since my company is providing a car I couldn’t wait till jan2010.

Finally I got my car. My GM came to chennai & presented it in the afternoon 12.30pm. and Photo has been published in news paper in DINAKARAN chennai edition. (since I am the first person to get car in my company). I directly went to santhom church. & again to showroom because I found in the right driver side glass a small bubbles in the sun film. Again they striker-ed newly. then I filled tank fully. went to my native. Driven up to 145kms continuously. engine is slightly started vibration.(since its a new engine) maximum I reached 80kmph. . but up to 1000kms, the delivery person asked me to drive below 60kmph. But still I couldn’t able to control my self. Till today(30/10/2009). I done 340kms. got a mileage of. 14.5kmpl 85%city, 15% highway. with 80% of AC use(mileage calculated full tank method). I think this is a good mileage before first service.
