Mine is LXi, 2 years old, done 12000 km. I purchaged this car just because it was fitting my budget. I would have preferred either a zen (old) or santro if I could afford.Coming to alto, I would say its a better 800 and a bit over priced.The engine is silent without a/c. Its powerful enough for city driving. On th highway I found it difficult to drive. If a/c is switched on in the first two gears, it almost loses all its power and its irritating to drive.Looks are good. But I didn’t like the rear side.
The interiors also look ok, much better than 800. I actually think its better looking than wagonr, santro and the new zen estilo.The gear shift is good. My car sometimes has problem while shifting to reverse, it does not engage sometimes. My dealer could never correct it. Brakes are very good. I never had any problem even when I had to apply it very strongly.Regarding mileage, I measured it only couple of times. Its around 16 (+- 0.5). I didn’t drive much on highways, so can’t comment on the highway mileage.
I heard from people that the mileage on highways is at least 20.Overall, its a good car, but a little overpriced. The LXi version with 3L on road will be the right price. The same car with a more powerful engine (950cc or so) would be a very good product.Thank you.
