The premium hatchback offering from Maruti Suzuki is already a bestseller with bookings crossing the 1 lakh units’ mark and waiting periods leading up to 6 months on some variants. But with the company set to manufacture the car at its upcoming Gujarat plant from early 2017, the beeline could drop down significantly. Offered with both the petrol and diesel engine options, the Baleno’s 1.2-litre petrol motor produces 84PS and 115Nm while the 1.3-litre diesel pumps out 75PS and 190Nm. It is available in four trims – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha – and seven colour options. An automatic variant is available but only with the Delta variant. It rivals the Honda Jazz and the Hyundai i20.
