I’ve been using the Maruti Celerio VXi AMT for a few months now, and it’s a great little hatchback for daily city driving. The AMT ( Auto Gear Shift) makes driving in traffic much easier, especially in congested areas. Gear shifts are smooth and predictable. It’s not a performance car, but for city commuting, it gets the job done efficiently.
The 1.0L petrol engine is peppy enough for city use and gives great mileage. I’ve been getting 18–20 km/l in the city, and on highways, it goes up to 22+ km/l with light driving. The engine is refined and doesn’t make much noise.
Being the VXi variant, it has basic features like power windows ( front) , central locking, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and a decent music system with Bluetooth and USB. However, it misses out on some modern features like a touchscreen, rear power windows, or a reverse camera — which are available in higher trims.
Interior space is surprisingly good for a small car — especially legroom. Boot space is 313 litres, which is best in its class. The suspension is soft, so small bumps are handled well.
